The French Rivera, Jyske Style
Jyske Bank and the Hotel Martinez in Cannes have teamed up to help guests experience the Cote d'Azur in an entirely new way.(Cannes, Ole Lien, Gitte Harder-Pecqueux, Hotel Martinez, France, South France, French Riviera, Brian Woodward, Bicycles, 5-star hotel, private banking)
When it comes to bicycles, the French have focused on winning the gold jersey for decades. But now, bikes have come to the lazy boulevards and beachwalks of the South of France, too.
This thanks to a project between
Jyske Bank Cannes and
The Hotel Martinez that offers guests of the five-star hotel the opportunity to experience the French Rivera in a very Danish way. Jyske Bank has given the hotel a number of bicycles in a project that both partners hope will make a statement for clean transportation.
"There are not many things the Danes can teach the French about good living, but this may just be one of them," says Ole Lien, General Manager of Jyske Bank Cannes. "Riding bicycles is an everyday part of Danish life and a great way to get close to nature. And besides, it's much more practical - especially here where we have
the Croisette and such great weather."
Gitte Harder-Pecqueux, Manager of The Hotel Martinez says guests can borrow the bicycles and a map with suggested routes based on whether they have 2 hours or an entire day. The bicycles help guests relax, get away from the frenzy of French traffic and help the hotel offer something unique in a place where bicycles are still mainly ridden by professionals.
"We will even make a picnic and load it up in the basket on the bike along with a nice bottle of wine," she says. "And that may be the best Danish French combination you can imagine here in Cannes," she says.
