Dr Qvortrups Cab: One politician after another nailed for claiming excess expenses

August 18, 2009

The British are furious and the politicians are nailed one by one for claiming expenses relating to anything from tennis courts and duck houses to castles.

In his day, French President Mitterand got off the hook by saying  ”et puis?” - ”and so what?” - when it was revealed that he had a mistress who lived in the palace. Today he would probably not have gotten away with it. Now the name of the game is new puritanism and transparency.
