Americans Looking to Offshore Investments

Average American investors have long been myopic with their portfolios, and their risk appetite has historically stopped at the border. But a chain of events that started with the explosion of the dot-com bubble and includes the fincial crisis and devaluation opf the dollar has led many Americans, not just the rich, to begin placing their money overseas. 

American investors stand to lose big if they don't start investing up to 20 percent of their assets overseas, says Erica Nolan, the Executive Director of the Soverign Society, which provides research to investors looking to open offshore accounts.  Nolan joins us in the studio to explain what lies behind the increased interest in offshore accounts for Americans.
