The Picasso Payoff

May 06, 2010
Pablo Picasso's 1932 painting "Nude, Green Leaves and Bust" set a new record for the art world this week in New York when it was sold for 106.5 million dollars.  The sale brought prices for a major auction back to the levels they were before 2008.

The work, purchased by an anonymous buyer, was one of more than 50 sold from the collection of the late Los Angeles philanthropist Mrs. Sidney Brody.  Mrs. Brody and her husband purchased the painting in 1951 for 19,800 dollars.
